The Opportunity

Open Colleges is looking for an enthusiastic Junior - Mid Level Front End Developer to join their growing Development team.

As a Front-End Developer, you understand that creative design, UX and business needs can all come together to deliver outstanding interactive experiences. You get both the art and the science behind awesome applications, and contribute by asking the right questions at the right time, as well as choosing the right path and frameworks.

In this role, you will work closely with and learn from an experienced mix of Developers and Designers to expand the responsiveness and functionality of the Open Colleges Marketing Website, Microsites and Landing Pages as we look to international expansion.

We’re one of the biggest innovators in the online space today, integrating the very latest technology from our partners which include Google, YouTube and Facebook. Due to our exponential growth, we’re often first in the country to test run state-of-the-art technology from these partners. 

Key Attributes and Experience we would like to see:

  • Have minimum 1 - 3 years’ industry experience with code to show through live links, GitHub/BitBucket
  • Deliver best-in-class HTML5/CSS3/JQuery front-end code across a broad array of web and mobile projects
  • Develop and test across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices
  • Participate in the initial scoping and approach to projects
  • Most importantly, have a passion to teach what you know, and learn what you don’t

 You should have experience with:

  • Planning and executing web and mobile UX/UI - desirable
  • CSS pre-processing such as LESS and SASS ­
  • Git services
  • Developing for search engine optimization
  • Standards-compliant semantic code
  • Integrating your HTML/CSS into a CMS and templating language. Bonus points for Python/Django or Java exposure, but really, any CMS experience and an ability to learn quickly will do nicely

Educational Qualifications:

  • A degree in any discipline is good. Great work experience, passion for continual improvement is mandatory.
