Today, we deliver a diverse portfolio of courses spanning three Divisions: Business, Finance and Services; Education, Health and Community Services; and Design, Science and Technology. We focus on meeting the needs of adult learners by providing highly flexible, accessible and affordable education and training.

Our team includes over 450 staff and 300 contract educators. Over the last three years, we have been through a fundamental organisational transformation. We have more than tripled the number of staff and expect to grow to more than 700 staff over the next three years.

About the position

The overall purpose of this role is to support our leaders to ensure Open Colleges attracts, retains, develops and manages a highly engaged and committed workforce. As a People & Culture Business Partner, you will ensure our People & Culture processes within these areas of the business are aligned to our overall business strategy and will assume overall responsibility for employee experiences.

Your core functions

  • Implement strategies to attract, retain and build great people. 
  • Develop relationships within allocated business units and be available as a point of contact for line managers and their teams.
  • Develop and implement key people and culture strategies.
  • Provide workplace relations support including policy and legislative requirements.
  • Provide specialist advice with respect to employee performance management.
  • Investigate workplace grievances including claims of bullying or unfair treatment.
  • Be responsible for WH&S requirements within the business areas of accountability.
  • Plan and implement key talent management projects.
  • Coordinate variations to employment contracts and routine terminations.
  • Ensuring compliance to all regulatory standards.

Key Attributes & Experience:

  • Generalist HR experience including Change Management (+5 years) and understanding of contemporary HR practices within Australia
  • Experience in high growth companies, particularly in the online services sector
  • Exceptional communicator with high-level analytical, influencing & organisational skills
  • Ability to interpret and administer industrial instruments and provide advice
  • High levels of energy, motivation and passion
  • Pro-active customer service focus

Educational Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management (essential)
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or Education (desirable)
