Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to complete the Certificate IV in Human Resources first?

icon

No, you do not need to complete the full Certificate IV in Human Resources. You only need to complete the pre-requisite units in the HR Foundations Skill Set course, which are the following units:

  • BSBHRM411 Administer performance development processes
  • BSBHRM412 Support employee and industrial relations
  • BSBHRM415 Coordinate recruitment and onboarding
  • BSBHRM417 Support human resource functions and processes

Alternatively, if you can provide evidence of two years equivalent full-time relevant HR work experience, you may not have to complete the pre-requisite units.

Are your courses self-paced?

icon

Yes, they are! With Open Colleges, you’re in charge. There are no exams, or set timetables, so you can learn at your own pace. This means that if you have the time, you can dedicate more hours a week to studying and finish your course earlier. Or you can choose to study without pressure over a longer period of time.

Are your courses free?

icon

Unlike a TAFE, which is government owned, Open Colleges is a privately owned RTO (Registered Training Organisation.) This means that we are an independent entity, and we don’t receive any government funding. For this reason, our courses are not free. If you have any questions about our pricing, please feel free to contact our friendly Enrolment Consultants.

Are your courses nationally recognised?

icon

Yes, they are! Open Colleges offers nationally recognised Certificates and Diplomas under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). This means that our Certificates and Diplomas meet specific national standards and have been developed in consultation with industry experts to provide the most workplace relevant training. Qualifications from Open Colleges also carry the same level of recognition as courses delivered on-campus in a classroom setting. So, when you study with OC, you can rest assured that you are receiving quality education.
