Understanding Superseded Courses: What It Means for Your Education

Post by Open Colleges on October 03, 2023

Are you thinking about enrolling in a course at Open Colleges? We're excited to inform you that enrolments for our programs are now open, and you can embark on your learning journey whenever it suits you. However, it's important to note that some of our courses may become superseded over time. Don't worry, we're here to explain what this entails and how it could affect your educational experience.

What Does It Mean When a Course Is Superseded?

At Open Colleges, our courses are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). To ensure they meet industry standards, these courses are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the latest knowledge and skills. When a course is superseded, it means that a newer version of the course has been introduced, aligning with the evolving industry requirements.

What Does This Mean for You?

The great news is that both versions of the course are industry-endorsed and nationally recognised. So, you can be confident in the validity of your qualification, whether you choose the current or the superseded version

How Might This Impact Your Studies?

Open Colleges is obligated to issue all certificates for the current course by the teach-out date. If you're unable to complete the course in time, don't worry. We'll transition you into the new version of the course once it becomes available, and this transition will be free of charge.

Will You Need to Do More Study?

If you transition into the new course, there may be some additional assessments or a need to repeat certain course units if they have undergone significant changes.

What About Work Placement?

For courses that include Work Placement, please note that a full unit of competency is not achieved until you successfully complete workplace assessments. Make sure to complete your Work Placement by the teach-out date.

How Can You Determine Your Study Path?

If you're unsure whether you can complete the course before the transition date or if you have questions about your study options, our team of experts is here to help. You can call us or schedule a call with one of our consultants who will guide you through your study choices to ensure you achieve your educational and career goals.

Exciting Opportunities Ahead

We are thrilled to be a part of your educational journey and look forward to equipping you with the job-ready skills you need to make a significant impact in your chosen career. Remember, change is an opportunity for growth, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
